The journey to Jerusalem is finally over (Mark 8:31-10:52). He arrived on a Sunday and he would be murdered only five days later. The King has come and with him the Kingdom of God. Jesus's message has been clear from the beginning: "Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel" (1:14-15). This year for Passover, Jesus chose to make his arrival evidence of his authority as the Messiah; hence, the people shouted for joy, seeing their Savior and King riding in to come and save them (Zech. 9:9). All of this was in fulfillment of how God said he would arrive. But no one was prepared for what he was about to do. And we must not miss what they missed.
