I want to develop this clear Biblical idea of what purity of heart is, by preaching to you this morning from Romans chapter 8, verses 1-16. I know that whole sermons could be preached on any one of these verses in Romans 8, but I would like to give you a taste of the profound freedom to which you and I have in Christ to go about to do what is right and to be pure in heart. 1st of all – The profound freedom from the law of sin and death leads to purity of heart. (verses 1-4) 2nd – The profound freedom of being spiritually minded leads to purity of heart. (verses 5-11) And 3rd – The profound freedom of being led by the Spirit leads to greater and greater actual purity of heart. These are not only positional realities, your ability to see yourself in Christ, that I will be speaking to you about. They are experiential realities which will continually encourage your heart as you seek to glorify God in the way that you will live.
