John MacArthur aptly said recently that the debate over sexual immorality and gender issues is the "tip of the spear" in our cultural battle with the world. We have to be clear and faithful; gracious and yet uncompromising. I. God forbids cross-dressing (v. 5). 1. WHY? Why does he say, "for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God?" One, we deceive others. I also encourage others to accept the deception, the lie. All falsehood; we are not living in the truth. Two, we defy God's authority and purpose in creating us- I'm rejecting what God created [The hubris of man to say, "I feel like I am a woman trapped in a man's body." That is the effect of the Fall. God did not make a mistake in the way He created you.] Three, we go against God's clear expressed command (v. 5). That itself should do it. Four, because it comes from a fallen sinful heart. This did not happen in Eden before Adam fell and it did not happen in Christ, the perfect God-man. It's a perversion of God's nature coming from our sinful hearts. Five, lastly, it is idolatry because we act as if are God — I determine my sex, I define what is male and what is female, I can with impunity declare my gender by fiat (with what I wear, how I act, what surgeries I undergo, etc.). 2. How do we respond? 3. Be Courageous 4. Hope of the Gospel
