Faith and works are not opposite extremes, with some wise road in the middle that we should walk. We either stand before God in faith, or by works. There is no middle ground. And Paul here reminds us that we can only be justified before God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Faith is the opposite of striving in your own strength. It is less and less of you, and more and more of Christ in you. To increase in your faith means to increase in utter dependence on Christ.
Which worldview -- faith or works -- will be reflected in your life this coming week? In your prayers? In your fighting personal turmoil? In your relationships with others?
