Jeremiah was faithful to his calling even though he had many enemies to what he was saying to the people. The wicked princes got the king to approve their mistreating him. They wanted to have him executed. But Ebed-Melech courageously spoke to the king about the evil that was being perpetrated against Jeremiah, and he was able to see Jermiah rescued.
He boldly did what was right. He wasn't a powerful man. We tend to think of heroes going about every day doing great things. But actually heroes are often known by one great thing that they did. And that sets the tone for being remembered. Are you the one that God could ask to do one good thing for Him? This is what Ebed-Melech did. And God made his mission successful.
Ebed-Melech was not only courageous but he was also gentle. And God rewarded him for his service. God singled him out to comfort him and save him. In this midst of this great national tragedy, Jeremiah is given a special prophecy for this one single man. This same God has time for you, to answer prayers for you in the smallest matters.
