Peter says something that is despised and widely rejected in the church today that God judges without partiality according to each one's work. The response in the modern church is to say, "but I have been justified by the blood of Jesus Christ. I don't have to fear." This is very much in contrast to what Peter says that because God the Father is a righteous judge, we should spend our time here in fear. We are justified through the blood of Jesus Christ, but we are saved by that justification for good works that Jesus Christ prepared beforehand for us to walk in. He can then judge us without partiality according to those good works. Jesus Christ didn't just die to save us from the eternal punishment of sin. He die to save us from the present reality of sin. One of the ways that He does this is to give His people a fear of God so that they turn from their sin. God took sin seriously enough to send Jesus Christ to die for it. Do you think that the one who caused the precious blood of Jesus to be shed, doesn't care about sin now? Conduct yourselves through the time of your stay here in fear.
