Paul declares here the hatred of Christ by both the Jews and the Gentiles in the gospel of God's free grace. God chose a means to appoint His covenant people that would glorify His name while humbling the objects of His mercy. God has thrown down the gauntlet against human pride, human excellence, and human will. Paul's advice to the Corinthians is to be content to follow the humble and despised Savior. God has chosen a specific people for a specific purpose of His own choice.
