Too often people believe IN God but don't believe God. Truly believing God makes a profound impact on every area of your life. Hannah's predicament was that she couldn't have a baby. Hannah's song shows us a young woman who had become mature and godly through the ordeals of her life. She had learned to believe God and to trust in His sovereign purposes. She knew that her barrenness was from God, and that He was in control of all things, including every detail of her life. Instead of running away from God, she ran toward Him. She became devoted and dedicated to the Lord. Hannah came to see the needs of Israel and it caused her to dedicate her son to God and to the needs of her nation. She raised her son to know, love, and serve God. God used the pain in her life to provide for Samuel, the great prophet of God. Moms and dads! Never discredit the pain or suffering life brings. No matter what their cause or source, sufferings are allowed by God and are tools by which He trains us to become the kind of people God can use for His purposes. Just when it seemed that there was no hope for the nation, God intervened in grace, but He did so in response to the prayers of a godly woman named Hannah, whose name means "grace." After Samuel's birth and dedication, Hannah sang this remarkable song of praise to God. In this prayer song, Hannah celebrated the Lord's special care for the weak and needy. God loves to do great things through ordinary people. We can learn some important things for today!
