Hannah was just one young woman out of thousands in Israel in those days. Yet the entire nation was blessed because this godly woman had a problem and prayed according to God's will for His glory. Everyone benefited from Samuel's ministry. Our nation desperately needs a godly remnant that will stand against the tide of corruption and indifference as people of prayer. The true Israel is the true church. The true church is marked by miraculous births. Remember Isaac the child of promise. Samuel here. And Jesus born of Mary and of the Holy Spirit. The church is barren without Jesus! By giving Samuel to Israel through Hannah, the Lord preserved his people for Samuel would be a godly leader who was used to institute the kingship that would give us the King of kings! God remembers his covenant promises and rescues his people locally and globally. Hannah leads to Samuel, Samuel leads to David, David leads to Jesus, Jesus leads to the church. The gospel promise is that of a person who will establish a people and bring them to a place called the promised land. The gospel promise is Jesus who will build his church and bring us to the promised land of heaven. God works in mysterious ways through human history to bring about his covenant promises to his people! To borrow a phrase from the late Toby Keith, Christians are waiting on the "It's going to be alright" that hasn't got here yet. But its coming!
