Our Lord Jesus Christ proclaims Himself to be greater than the temple. In this we find some appropriate warnings and blessings.
1. Our Lord foretells the coming end to temple worship, as the types will be fulfilled in Him and the Temple will be destroyed.
2. Our Lord provides a warning: the presence of Christ must be valued more than the things we call beautiful, including sensual worship and dead ritual and sacramentalism.
3. Our Lord provides us a great comfort in our worship: though we may not possess the grandeur of a temple or an elaborate physical display of so-called worship, we can treasure the presence of the Savior with us, and we can be completely satisfied by that One who is greater than the Temple.
