Matthew 22:1-14 expresses the Lord's parable of the wedding feast. The king entered the hall and his attention was drawn to a particular guest that was not dressed appropriately for the celebration. But wWhat did the king expect? People had been summoned from their immediate pursuits to attend the son's wedding feast and it was ready (NOW!) They had little time to go home and dress appropriately for the occasion. And also, by virtue of the kind of people who were now invited (non aristocrats, or the poorer segments of their society) - couldn’t it have been expected that they would not even possess the correct attire…? Why then would the king be upset about such a trivial matter…? This parable has huge implications for us today, in the way we regard the authority of God.
