Exodus 15 records the response of the Israelites to God’s mighty deliverance!
Today’s sermon is entitled “Sing to the Lord”. From studying Israel’s song, I will call us to two commitments regarding worship.
#1 - I will praise God in song for saving me.
#2 - My singing will focus on who God is and what He has done.
O loved ones, let us consider God’s mighty salvation on our behalf!
God is holy and just – punishing our sin at the cross!
God is merciful forgiving all our sins and not giving us the eternal punishment we deserve.
God is gracious – giving us eternal life, counting us righteous in Christ, promising us a glorious inheritance.
God is faithful! Way back in the Garden of Eden, God had promised to send a Savior. And at just the right time, He kept His promise!
God is loving! He purchased sinners! He laid down His life for His enemies! He saved those who did not deserve it. He rescued those who could not help themselves.
God is powerful! He defeated Satan, He conquered death, He triumphed over sin and its effects. He reversed the curse! Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus all the enemies of our soul have been defeated. Our legal guilt, enslaving desires, false religion, inadequate efforts, debt of sin, and Satan’s schemes are all washed up on the shore. They are defeated! They hold no power over us – Christ has delivered us! O AGC, let us sing to the Lord all our lives!
May our singing now rise like incense before our great God and Savior! |
