This seven post-resurrection appearance of the risen Christ to His followers took place in Galilee and it is the first of two appearances in this region.
Peter and some of the others had gone back to fishing. In the morning the Saviour stood upon the shore and called to these disciples. At first they did not recognise the Lord.
After a night of fruitless toil the Saviour directs them to cast the net on the right side of the ship with the promise that they will find fish. This enclosing of a multitude of fish indicates to John that it is the indeed the Lord who is speaking to them.
Upon hearing that it is the Lord Peter girt his fisherman's coat about him and casts himself into the sea to go to meet the Saviour.
This seventh appearance continues with the invitation by the Saviour directed towards these disciples to come and dine. Having eaten the Saviour recommissions Peter using these well known words: 'Simon, son of Jonas, Lovest thou me more than these?'
