Be Ready to Hear. Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 life is like a minefield. Nearly every place a person steps holds unseen dangers. For believers in particular, life's journey can be especially hazardous, as it is Satan's objective to destroy all believers and to rob them of God blessings: In this chapter, the wise king offered a map for the minefield and uncovered some of the pitfalls believers must avoid in their day-to-day journey. The Preacher warned about two sins. The first was that of making the vow with no intention of keeping it, in other words, lying to God. The second sin was making the vow but delaying to keep it, hoping you could get out of it. Satan seeks to rob us of the joy God intends us to have. We need to draw near to God and hear His word. We need to be faithful to God and others. The devil's oldest trick is to convince people that God does not really love them, that God is withholding from them many things that would contribute to their happiness and fulfillment. God was faithful yesterday; He is faithful today; and He will be faithful tomorrow—whatever it brings. People of faith face life's problems with this determined confidence and assurance. Dr. Ernest Bullington sung two songs at the end of the service.
