This is another excellent message in the series, The Excellencies of Christ, from Hebrews 1. Do we sincerely love Christ for all He is? This is true Christianity; and, if we do, it will be manifest in our lives and speech. It is a tragedy to be affected by what Christ has done for the sinner, and not be moved by His person. The writer of Hebrews begins by telling us of the excellencies of Christ before discussing His work: He purged our sins by His own blood. To "purge" means "to cleanse by carrying off or separating what is impure; to clear from guilt and moral defilement; to clear from the accusation and charge against us." Salvation is not merely about knowing that you need a Savior from sin, but that you can know God through the Lord Jesus Christ. "This is the true God, and eternal life." There is a difference between "purged our sins" and "purged us from our sins." Please listen for the explanation.
