God Holds Human Life Sacred • By His Design ïƒ His creation of the person: God makes the person  Creation of man (Gen 1:26-28)  Creation of soul and body (Genesis 2:7) Body—God made him from the dust of the ground Soul—God breathed into Adam the breath of life  Creation in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27; 9:6) ïƒ His high value of human life (Ps 8:6-8)  Pinnacle of creation sequence (Gen 1:26)  Position of authority over creation: (Gen 1:28) ïƒ His reproductive plan: multiplication (Gen 1:28)
• By His Blessing and Protection ïƒ His blessing: Children are a blessing (Ps 127:3) ïƒ His command : Do not murder! (Ex 20:13; Ps 106:38) ïƒ His protection of the most helpless (Ex 22:21-24) ïƒ His judgment of the life-taker (2 Ki 15:16; Amos 1:13) ïƒ His prerogative: It is God’s prerogative to give and to take life (Job 1:21)
