We pick up our study in 1 Corinthians in the second of Paul's three chapters on grey areas. When we last were in 1 Corinthians, we had just heard the Apostle Paul discuss the issue of the "liberties" or “rights” of the Corinthians. He pointed out in 8:9 that the Corinthians needed to take care that their “rights” did not become a stumbling block to others. The word translated “liberty” is the Greek word exousia. It is the same word translated “right” repeatedly here in I Corinthians 9.
