People living in their own land, in their own country decide that they don't want to be under the control of a foreign power so to forestall that kind of problem the Assyrians deported conquered people out of their own land, and put them in a strange land. So that's what's happening now to the northern 10 tribes. They adopted the customs of the pagan Canaanites. Listen to Leviticus chapter 20 verse 23, moreover you shall not follow the customs of the nations which I shall drive out before you. For they did all these things and therefore I have abhorred them. Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 9 says, when you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. And yet they did. God had warned them, God had instructed them. We can say it seems so clear what they were to do and what they were not to do, and yet they did.
