In this week's passage, Acts 27:13-26, as they are waiting in Fair Havens to attempt to make it to Phoenix to winter there, a gentle south wind started that they took as what they were hoping for. Soon they were involved in a terrible storm, that they were not able to prevail against and were blown where ever the storm took them. Because of the severity of the storm, all hope that they would be saved was given up. Then Paul spoke of the vision that he had received from God. That God's plan was for him to be brought before Caesar and God also granted him the lives of all that were on the ship. The ship, however, would be run aground and destroyed. In this passage, Luke gives us much details about how they dealt with the ship during the storm, but with those details, we should remember that it is all happening because Paul must go to Caesar. It is much like the Christian life, there can be many trials and tribulations, but we should never forget that the purpose is so that we go to the King of Kings. We should keep our heads during those times, because we know where we are headed.
