1. Divine Effulgence (Christ’s Dignity) (“The Brightness of His Glory”)
2. Divine Essence (Christ’s Identity) (“The Express Image of His person”)
A. The Stipulations of Our Salvation: The assertion that Jesus is God is the same claim that stirred up the anger of the Jews to kill Jesus (John 10:31). It was a bold claim by Jesus and they put him to death for it. But now the apostle boldly affirms that this teaching is to be the teaching of the Church and he asks these Jews to stand where Jesus stood - take up their cross, count the cost, put your life on the line with Jesus and with truth and trust your life to the hand of the Father, as Jesus did.
B. The Security of Our Salvation: Every attribute of God is the attribute of our Savior; "he is infinite, eternal and unchangable, in his beings, wisdom, power, holiness, goodness and truth." (Westminster Confession of Faith). Every attribute of God is an attribute assigned to the security of your salvation, and every attribute is infinite, eternal and unchangeable. Your salvation is secure in the hand of and infinite, eternal and unchangeable God.
C. The Success of our salvation: The success of salvation is seen in the fruit of it, in the obligations laid on us by our creator have been met by our creator. Our Creator has become our Saviour. The One who saved you is the One who knows you best. He is God, we answer to him Now, not just as creator but as Savoiur. Jesus is Saviour and Lord.
3. Divine Efficacy (Christ’s Ability) (“Upholds all things …”)
