There is a story in the Old Testament about Uzzah. The Philistines had captured the Ark of the Covenant and God brought down curses on the Philistines because of it. I find it interesting that the Philistines, rather than humble themselves before God, instead chose to get rid of God. They put the Ark of the Covenant on a trailer pulled by a pair of bulls, and started them off down the road into Israel. Once in Israel, the Ark was brought into the house of Abinidab in Keariath Jearim, where it stayed for the rest of King Saul's life. Then under King David, the ark was going to be moved into Jerusalem. Here is where Uzzah enters the story. He was a son of Abinidab. And so he and his other brother were given the responsibility to walk alongside the ark in order to make sure it made it to its destination. There was a massive procession. Along the way, the oxen stumble. And the ark begins to slide off the cart. So Uzzah reaches out his hand to steady the ark and to keep it from falling onto the ground. In that moment, God strikes down Uzzah.
