Yet There is Room Luke 14:25-35 Most people will follow Jesus as long as it is convenient for them, but true discipleship always has a cost associated with it. In this passage, Jesus discusses that cost. Those who come to Christ as disciples-with a heart of Devotion, Denial, and Dedication-have a surprise in store. The glad reality is that although Christ demands that we give Him our all, He gives us so much more in return. There will be suffering for the committed disciple, but there will also be joy. Quote: "Salvation is the miracle of a moment; discipleship is the process of a lifetime." There will be a cross, but we do not lift it alone. Christ Himself, as our burden-bearer, gives comfort and hope as we press on for Him. In addition to the blessings of this life, the true disciple has the promise that what he does now counts for eternity. What a joy it will be to stand before Christ and offer Him the fruit of true discipleship. The call to discipleship is a call to deeper love, stronger devotion, and fuller surrender to Jesus.
