Children are of great importance to God. We see here in this text that even children can be used of God to do His work. Jesus here sets a great example for us, as the children of God, that we can and should take a stand for God just like Daniel and his three friends had done. With all that they had going for them the world tried to take away what they had. The very names were changed, names that are their heritage. The same happens to us the world will try to remove our heritage of being God's children. Their testimony also came under attack by means of their diet. Our spiritual diet also is under attack. Sex, drugs, booze, a warm bed on Sunday morning, even our jobs are offered in exchange for God, the Bible, church, and our obedience. These boys faced the fire, the lions, and even rebuke by close relatives (Mary in the case of Jesus). We too will have to go through trials in this life, but as His children ambassadors we must make our stand or we will fall for anything. Is what we are doing what God would have us do or what the world would have us doing instead? Remember not only do we see them face the trials but also their victory. And we can share in these victories when we follow our Fathers business plan. |
