Aim: To come to see that God loves His church so much that He disciplines us, for our good.
Exegesis: God dealt with the problem in the midst. He elicits the truth (v. 19) and a confession (vv. 20-21). God dealt with the plunder in the midst. We are to unearth it (v. 22) and expose it (v. 23). God dealt with the people in the midst, so that all will justify the Lord's ways (vv. 24-25a), fear the Lord's name (vv. 25b-26a), and love the Lord's gospel (v. 26b).
Key verse: v. 26 ''Then they raised over [Achan] a great heap of stones, still there to this day. SO the LORD turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been the Valley of Achor to this day.''
