"Cain was not the promised serpent-crusher of Genesis 3:15, neither was his brother Abel. Eve's sons were gone, but hope was not lost, because God in his great mercy and grace was about to unfold another chapter in the redemptive story. Another son would be born to Eve, another offspring, and it was through the godly line of Seth that the promised redeemer would come. In Luke 3:38, Jesus Christ is identified through his genealogy as the son of Seth, [who was] the son of Adam, [who was] the son of God. Adam and Eve's family was wrecked by sin, but their story was not over. Oh brothers and sisters, feel the grace here. No matter how we've messed up our lives. No matter how deep the disfunction goes, our sinful choices are subservient to the sovereign grace of God, and no sin can derail his plan and purpose for his glory in our lives."
