The book of Hebrews is so misunderstood for many reasons. That is because it is a book that was written in language that is foreign and strange to us. The key to understanding the book is that Jesus is superior to anything else we could place our trust in. Further, it's often irrelevant for today's Christian because of its filled with Old Testament imagery. What further adds to the confusion is the fact that the author is anonymous. There are a number of candidates that are viable including: Paul, Barnabas, Apollos, and even Luke. However, at the end of the day the authorship is irrelevant. The church for 2000 years has seen the book of Hebrews as as authoritative and apart of the divinely inspired canon. Therefore, we can trust that when we read Hebrews, we are reading God's Word.
