In the fourth commandment, we are commanded to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Not only are we to remember it by weekly observance, but we are to remember its purpose as well. If the purpose is rest and worship, then I must start preparing at some point in the week to have a true day of rest. We need to get our work done in six days. If the work we have to do takes more than six days, then we are doing too much. We need to learn to say no to other things and other people, instead of continuing to say no to God on the Sabbath. In this sermon, we will consider the question, "Is the Sabbath for today?" We will then consider what the fourth commandment requires and what it teaches us about God and ourselves.
