The Demonstration of Trust Daniel 6:10-24 Believers can trust God in all circumstances. This is the first record of hardship for Daniel. He has been successful in every previous venture but God placed a severe testing for him in order that he might take his place among the preeminent. Daniel's friends were tempted to commit an act which was wrong. Daniel was called upon to discontinue an activity that was right. It is difficult for us to evaluate the severity of Daniel's punishment in contrast with that of his three friends. The fiery furnace seems more severe but Daniel spent the "entire night" in the lions' den.The believer is always safe in God's hands. The path of duty is also the path of safety. A man who is in the will of God is immortal until his work is completed. The contrast between the misery of the king in his palace and the peace of Daniel while in the lions' den represents the difference between one who has no internal resources and one whose mind is fixed on God. The vindication of Daniel brings encouragement to us who find ourselves under pressure because of our attempt to hold high standards in contemporary life. Although we realize God does not work miracles lavishly, we still can be confident that he knows of our situation and will intervene at the proper time for our deliverance and honor us as we have sought to honor him. God may not come as quickly to our rescue as we feel he should, but faith continually whispers in times of discouragement that help is near and God will not tarry long.
