In this meditation on Psalm 51, Pastor Joe Tyrpak shares five aspects of good confession, and shows that the healthy habit of coming clean is a beneficial and useful part of the Christian's daily walk. Here is a small piece of this practical message.
"I often tell believers who are struggling with sin; one of the best ways that you can conquer sin is to get good at repenting of it. Become a habitual repenter. Why does that help in our growth? It's because … bringing it before the Lord explicitly (and bringing it before other people), helps us to experience the right degree of shame for our sin.
"One of the reasons we're so calloused about sin is because we never bring it up to the Lord and bring it out before other people and experience the shame of it, leading us to hate it, making us more sensitive to it so we can resist it in the future.
"Getting good at confessing is helpful for growth."
