This morning, I want us to slow down and consider 'Good Grief.' Have you ever made that statement, 'Good Grief?' I know it has been said in my home. As Christians, we want to 'Grapple with Grief through the Gospel.' The holidays, often, more than any other time bring to our remembrance the empty seats at the table, the gatherings you used to have, and the loss of conversation and laughter of dear loved ones. While some have become empty, some have been filled. The most important thing to consider is the genuiness of heart in celebrating the Christmas holiday. Do you know the real reason for this season? It's about God's greatest gift of His Son to be the Redeemer. If you have been saved by grace, you know about 'Good Grief' as you experienced the heaviness of sin, emptiness of life separated from God, and sorrow and sadness due to not measuring up to God's holy law. This 'Good Grief' led you to repentance and faith (2 Cor. 7:10) and gave you a new life with a new perspective on grief. As we read Matthew 5:4 , let us consider the following: 1) The causes of grief 2) The comfort for grief. |
