The Redemption of Ruth - Message 2 - Ruth's Redemption Announced. In the second chapter of the Book of Ruth we begin to see what God is doing behind the scenes in Ruth and Naomi's life to bring them to a point where the history of the world will be changed though their lives! We are introduced to a close relative of Elimilech's, a wealthy and godly man named Boaz. Boaz serves as a model for a Christian businessman, treating his workers like family, and knowing who was in his fields, even if they were lowly beggars and widows. Throughout the course of this chapter we also see a great change in Naomi's attitude toward Ruth and toward the Lord as she begins to suspect what God is up to! For us, we learn that Boaz is a picture of Christ, a Kinsman-Redeemer, coming to free us from slavery and set us free, giving us a new family name and a new life by His grace.
