It is common among all men and women to yearn for peace. As I mentioned last week, peace of soul is more desirable in humans than even national peace. Former President Dwight Eisenhower once said that 'peace and justice are two sides to the same coin.' In other words, you cannot have peace without justice--neither globally nor internally. Conflict between (P)person(s) is mediated by the righteous standard of our Creator God.
From the smallest interpersonal squabble to the longest international war, the genesis of conflict is always the same---sin that exists in the fallen flesh of every person that ever lived. What can be done that we might have peace? In a word, reconciliation. We must force our wrongness to face God's Rightness. Dante had it right when he wrote, 'In Thy will is our peace.' First, we must reconcile with God and then each other.
