The Lord saves and includes male and female in His kingdom. The Lord also saves and includes rich and poor in His kingdom. The Lord saves and includes those from all ethnic backgrounds in His kingdom. Clearly, the Lord saves and includes adults in His kingdom; but does He also save and include small children (even infants) in His kingdom? Because water baptism is the outward sign and seal of God's promise of salvation to those who are members of His kingdom, if Jesus teaches that His kingdom belongs to children (even infants) as well as adults, then the children of believing parents should not be excluded from the sign and seal of membership in Christ's kingdom (namely, water baptism). Though, we as parents, cannot save our children, let us never forget that these precious children are entrusted to us by the Lord that we might bring them to Jesus that He might save them. The main points from our text are the following: (1) The Blessed Work of Believing Parents (Luke 18:15a); (2) The Hindering Work of the Disciples (Luke 18:15b); and (3) The Place of Children in God's Kingdom (Luke 18:16-17).
