We have covered a lot of territory in our sermon series on Romans. The highest and loftiest doctrines have been addressed as have some very practical basic Christian practices and everything in between in the sixteen chapters of this great letter. In some ways Romans is so rich that I wonder in some ways what is left to preach! In another way I feel as though preaching is like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. You can begin at one end and by the time you finish at the other it is time to start all over again. I have never painted the Golden Gate Bridge or any other bridge for that matter, but I have now preached through Romans – a spiritual challenge that almost drove me to steer away from it in fear. I do not intent to start at the beginning of Romans again as it is time to move on. I trust the Lord has used the messages delivered via this flawed and sinful messenger for your good. I know I have been stretched through presenting them. Now as we conclude it dawns on me that Paul ends his letter with the theme that has overarched the entire letter – God’s glory. May our response to all that has been written by the apostle under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit be “to God be the glory” and may our application of it to our lives declare the same. And all God’s people said: “Amen!”
