Aim: To recognize that Jesus is the chief of all the areas of our lives.
Exegesis: The Lord is our ''civil'' commander. We are to be obedient to Him (v. 10a) and we are to be in awe of Him (vv. 10b-11). The Lord is our ''military'' commander. God has a place (v. 12) and a purpose (v. 13) for us in the battle. The Lord is our ''religious'' commander. God provides His church spiritual leaders (v. 14), guidance (vv. 15-18a), and encouragement (v. 18b).
Key verse: v. 10 ''So the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the LORD had commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and crossed over.''
