Identity is powerful. Our new identity in Christ is that we are dead to sin and alive to Christ so that the body of sin might be rendered ineffective and that we may yield the members of our body to God as instruments of righteousness. Become who you already are in Christ! Live out, increasingly, your new and true identity. Our true identity is not found in our sin. Often the most difficult part of turning away from a particular sin that has infiltrated your life is the feeling that, in rejecting it, you are rejecting part of who you are. It is really a distortion of your identity. God made us for communion with Himself and communion with HIs people. That is where we are to find our identity. False thinking can trap us and keep us from changing. God wants us to look in faith beyond human barriers to divine possibilities. You can have a new perspective and new power in the same old world.
