Joshua was a man that was committed to serving the Lord. He was a man that was set apart from the majority of his peers.
In Joshua 24 Joshua makes this statement: Josh 24:15 …. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua was God’s man to lead them into the Promised Land.
Before the Israelites went into the Promised Land they had to go across the flooded Jordan River. The River was normally about 100 feet across but when it was in flood it was about a mile in width.
God wanted His people to be sanctified before He showed His arm on their behalf. God wanted them to separate themselves from sin before the Jordan miracle.
I want you to notice in Joshua 4 that after the Israelites crossed the River Jordan, Joshua arranges for 2 memorials to be set up.
A memorial of stones in the River Jordan itself and a memorial of stones at the first place that they camped which was called Gilgal.
The Israelites were to construct memorials which would testify to the faithfulness of God to His promises, His Power and His presence with the children of Israel.
Twelve Men from the 12 tribes of Israel were to take 12 stones and carry them to their first overnight camping spot on the other side of the Jordan in the Land of Canaan.
Joshua sets up 12 stones in the River Jordan:
The stones were a testimony to God’s Faithfulness.
Can I ask you have you got Rocks in your head?...... I have.
Do you have Memorial Stones of the faithfulness of God in your life?
