The idea of leaning on this world for our support, but while we are in this world we are not of this world. There is of course always our stuff or material goods to try and rest on. But they are easily stolen, destroyed, or bad copies that don’t last. Some even turn to their service, trying to satisfy their own lusts and desires. And satan will use this as a means of showing us that if these things we serve can’t do it for us then how can God possibly do anything for us. We must choose wisely which way we are going to lean. Because the only way to lean is on the sovereign creator of heaven and earth. He is our comfort, strength, power, place of rest, and then only one trustworthy to never fail. When we lean on Him victory is assured.
