Aim: To reject false, and embrace true religion—by grace through faith in Christ.
Exegesis: Let us scorn all religious pride, by means of the preached word of God (v. 1) and by graciously heeding the word of God (vv. 2-3a). Let us scorn all religious pompousness, because it would pervert (vv. 3b-4a) and misrepresent (vv. 4b-5) grace. Let us scorn all religious pharisaism, by proclaiming liberty in the gospel (v. 6), meeting needs through the gospel (v. 7), and enjoying the grace of the gospel (vv. 8-9a).
Key verse: v. 8 ''Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.''
