Paul's joyful declaration, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”, reminds us of God’s incomparable, inexpressible gift – the gift of His Son, the gift of our Savior, the gift who is Christ the Lord. In Paul’s outburst of grateful praise is short and to-the-point, but there’s a big lesson for us here…and perhaps some guidance on how to keep our focus where it ought to be in all the gift-exchange excitement of Christmas. Let me draw on Paul’s exclamation to suggest four guidelines for receiving the best gift ever: 1.) know the Giver; 2.) identify your Gift; 3.) unwrap your Gift; 4.) don’t forget to say thanks!
