Intro: The plan of the disciples was to send the multitude away. The world, the flesh, and the devil might scream that the answer is somewhere else. Reason might dictate that we should go elsewhere. But the truth is that we need not depart from Christ to deal with our situations. Three reasons why you need not depart from Christ 1. Because Christ can do for us what man cannot do. The disciples had no means for feeding the multitude. The same Jesus that fed five thousand people is the same Jesus that put food on your table today, put gas in your car, gave you a job and has given every good gift and every perfect gift. And yet how many other times do we think that the answer is found elsewhere and how many times do we go elsewhere? 2. Because Christ is able do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. As far as your case is concerned, all options are on the table. They did all eat and were barely satisfied? No! They did all eat and were filled!! Our God is not a God of the barely possible. With God all things are possible!! What do you expect from Christ? Do you expect to be barely saved from your sins? I hope not. Christ is able to save to the uttermost all that come to God through him. Do you expect to barely make it through life? We struggle. Yes. But should we expect to barely get by? 3. Because Christ has great compassion on those who follow him. He saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion. The multitude could have gone off to the Roman government, but what would the government do for them? They could have gone off to organized religion, but the Pharisees had proven themselves unable to meet their needs. Where are you going to depart to?
