God is spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His Being. He is perfect wisdom, power, holiness, goodness and truth. And He is simple; He is not composed of parts as man is; body and soul. However, we must say that since man was created in the image of God, he does bear resemblance to God in his immaterial being, even though a creature. He has the ability in his mind to reason. He has reasoning powers which were given to him by God and they are like God's even though in essence God's thoughts are infinitely higher than ours. Nevertheless, God says in Isaiah 1: 18 – "Come let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Man, as the highest of the earthly creation was created to communicate with God; to have interaction with the Almighty through thoughts, words, and deeds. So, it behooves us to understand these faculties of the soul a little better.
