"The glory of Christmas is that God has not left us in our sin but has come in the person of Jesus Christ to rescue us from our sin. And if salvation from our sin is not foremost on our minds at Christmastime then we're doing it wrong. Douglas Wilson comments, 'In one sense of course, Jesus is the reason for the season. But in another fundamental sense, sin is the reason for the season.' You see friends we have buried the dark reality of human sin under the warm fuzzy sentimentalism of peace and good-will, but until we get that Christmas exists because of our rebellion against our Creator, then we will always miss Christmas. So this year when you gather around the Christmas tree or dinner table or whatever you do, remind your family that salvation from our sin is the reason we even have something to celebrate at all. God has come to save us in Christ. That is the promise of Christmas."
