Or as our Lord put in Luke 21:9, “But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.” Jews who deny that Jesus is the Messiah insist that the “servant” of Isaiah 42:1 and 52:13 refers to Israel. “Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high” (52:13).
