They would present themselves as being sophsiticated, well-educated, and mature. But the reality was that they were like the wild animals. They had no real understanding of anything truly spiritual, but professed that they did. They blasphemed the things of truth and holiness and mocked anyone who would adhere to the exclusive way of salvation that is proclaimed in the Scriptures. Their destiny was to be judged at God's hands to receive the true reward of their unrighteous behavior. But the text is also a reminder that not everyone is deceived by the apostates. There are those who recognize their false ideas and who resolve to stand against them.
