So, we find ourselves going back as a nation into a state of lockdown, with the requirements for our churches to close. The reason we are given by Government as justification is that this will save lives during this pandemic. Once again our liberties have been suspended. It however worthy of note that we are not compelled to stop preaching. Schools and universities are staying open. Construction and manufacturing industry are also not being required to stop.
Some churches are prepared to defy the regulations and to continue meeting, despite the Government instruction. They feel that the Government has overstepped the mark and has infringed upon the church's authority to follow the Lord's commands.
Examination of Caesar's 'homework' reveals that there is little, or no evidence to justify the temporary closure of churches on public health grounds. There is therefore the danger that Caesar will start to take from God what should be rendered unto Him, namely worship. 'Caesar' needs to beware lest He is found to be fighting against God. He needs to have good reason for halting the public worship of His people. Caesar beware!
