The Joy of Abraham on earth consisted in believing the promise of God without seeing its fulfillment in his lifetime. His joy was made complete by seeing the promise of God in the sending of Jesus Christ. Though he was not on the Mount of Transfiguration he certainly according to this text understood what Jesus would accomplish in His death.
We enter into the joy of Abraham when we believe the promises of God and love the Lord Jesus Christ. Our joy does not rest on emotion but the finished work of Christ. Therefore our joy has a solid, immovable and unshakable foundation. We have no fear in death because He has conquered death for us. We are free to walk in the Joy of the Lord as a testimony before the world to His love and goodness.
