"Pastor where is my joy?" It is probably the number one thing people want to talk to me about in private. Are you overjoyed that the word of life has wrapped around you and delivered you from death? Are you filled with joy that God has deigned to grace you eternally and perpetually with His presence? Are you amazed that God has worked faith in your heart? Or have you given yourself to speak and act like those in the world because you dwell there and have been like those around you? Are you known for murmuring and complaining? Your spouse, your job, your children, your neighbors, your family? Do you grumble and complain about them? Why then are you surprised that you have no rejoicing? That the joy is not in your heart? It is logically rather simple. It is not for the people who have been such grace in Jesus Christ to be bitter. One of the things that the west church must repent of is its bitterness. I think it would go a long long way if the churches in the United Sates would repent of grumbling, really against God, "He has not given me what all I want. He has not answered every prayer in the affirmative. I am mad. I have not been given my due." If we were to repent of that, one might see revival in the church tomorrow. Let us be stars in the blackness.
