So, the question that we will ask of our passage this morning is this: What are the great and mighty things which God does, in reviving His people? For the great and mighty things which God would show to Jeremiah, and to us, relate to how God forms and establishes Christ's Church; how He revives it to be a joy and praise and honor before all the nations of the earth. The word "it" in verse 2, refers to the city of Jerusalem. But we are not told this explicitly until verses 5 and 6. The city of Jerusalem in these verses, in Old Testament times, is to be understood in the context of this chapter as not only referring to the literal, physical Jerusalem, but it has application to New Testament times and the spiritual Israel of God as well. And so, as I will attempt to demonstrate to you, when we seek to understand the great and mighty things which God does, in reviving His people, we may also legitimately apply these promises to the times of the New Testament Church and to our own personal faith. There are 4 great and mighty things in which the Lord would show us, concerning how He revives His Church.
