Jesus prayed all night and, in the morning, called the His disciples to Him and appointed 12 to be His Apostles. Then He took them to down to a level place to teach them. While the content is similar to the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), I believe this to be a different message. The one similarity is the need to be in a condition of blessedness, which is a condition of the children of the kingdom, basking in the love of Christ and confident to stand in the day of judgment. This condition requires that one become "perfect" (Matthew 5:48). This state is not possible through obedience to the moral standards of the law, as taught by the Pharisees. Jesus came to fulfill the law so that He might redeem His people and enable them to have this state of blessedness.
